KYODO NEWS, founded in November 1945 as a nonprofit cooperative organization, is one of Japan’s leading news agencies. It covers developments in Japan and the rest of the world, distributing news around the clock to domestic and overseas news media as well as international organizations and institutions. It offers English-language and Chinese-language services in addition to Japanese-language service.

Kyodo covers Japan and the rest of the world from Japanese and Asian viewpoints.

Le Monde newspaper published in Paris is one of the most influential and prestigious newspapers in the world.  It was established in 1944 at the request of General Charles de Gaulle as way of projecting France’s voice in the world. With the appointment of Hubert Beuve-Méry as its first editor and director, Le Monde soon acquired a reputation for editorial independence.

Professor Camilleri discussed the Syrian situation on the eve of the resumption of the Geneva Peace talks. He saw the current cessation of hostilities as a promising sign that the the talks, though difficult and at times on the verge of collapse, may nonethless produce at least to a partial agreement in coming months.

Professor Camilleri is a regular commentator on the SKY NEWS  evening program Reporting LIVE with Stan Grant.
