“The King: Eternal Monarch” has scored a new low in ratings with its most recent episode.On May 1, “The King: Eternal Monarch” aired its fifth episode and according to Nielsen Korea, it scored an average of 7.6% and 8.6% for its first and second half respectively nationwide, which is a decline from last week’s ratings of 8% and 9.7% and the lowest for the series thus far, it had previously scored 7.8% with the first half of its third episode.Previously, “The King: Eternal Monarch” broke SBS ratings record with its debut scoring a number in the double digits, a feat for dramas these days, however, its premiere turned out to be the highest average rating it got so far.Netizens have previously shared mixed reactions to the drama, some calling it ‘cheesy,’ ‘boring,’ ‘slow-paced,’ and ‘corny.’ Many stated that they had such high expectations from the new Kim Eun Sook drama but their expectations were not met.There was worry among fans due to negative reviews over the series.
