Syria in Torment, Middle East in Turmoil: Is there light at the end of the tunnel?

The Age today published my analysis of the situation in Syria, and current UN mediated talks. The announcement that talks will be suspended until 25 February  simply brings home the difficulty of reaching any kind of agreement until all relevant parties accept the need for a political solution, and a process of reconciliation has got under way.
