Michael Hamel-Green is Emeritus Professor in Social Inquiry in the College of Arts, Victoria University Melbourne, Australia. He was previously the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Education and Human Development at Victoria University; and taught in in international security, conflict resolution, and community development subjects.
His areas of research interest are in peace studies and conflict resolution, with a particular focus on regional disarmament and nuclear-weapon-free zones. He has published widely on nuclear-weapon-free-zones, nuclear non-proliferation, weapons of mass destruction, multilateral negotiations, disarmament and community development. He is the Communications Editor of the Routledge journal, Global Change, Peace and Security. He was recently involved in organizing and co-writing a report on a major Track 2 dialogue conference, the Athens Dialogue on a Middle East Zone Free of Nuclear and Other Weapons of Mass Destruction that took place in Athens, 14-16 November 2012 (report jointly published by the European Public Law Organization and the Latrobe University Centre for Dialogue).
