John Borrie is a senior researcher and policy advisor at the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research in Geneva, Switzerland (www.unidir.org). His working experiences have covered many aspects of arms control and disarmament and he has published extensively on these and related topics. John’s current research focuses on the humanitarian impact of nuclear weapons, including international work in this area (see unidir.ilpi.org). A New Zealander, he has a PhD from the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom, and is an Associate Fellow at The Royal Institute of International Affairs in London (Chatham House). Prior to joining UNIDIR, John worked on weapons issues at the International Committee of the Red Cross and was Deputy Head of Mission for Disarmament in Geneva with the New Zealand Government (1999-2002).
