David M. McCourt is an international political sociologist and Assistant Professor at the University of California, Davis. His primary research interests lie with the social sources of state action in international politics, with an empirical focus on the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union. He also is interested in theory – both sociological and international. David holds a PhD from the European University Institute, Florence. He is the author of Britain and World Power Since 1945: Constructing a Nation’s Role in International Politics (University of Michigan Press, 2014) and articles in journals such as International Studies Quarterly, Review of International Studies, Millennium and British Journal of Politics and International Relations.
