Luke Glanville is a Fellow (Senior Lecturer) in the Department of International Relations at the Australian National University. He graduated with his PhD in Political Science at University of Queensland in 2010 and then worked at Griffith University before joining ANU in 2013. His research is currently focused on the historical development of duties that states have to protect the vulnerable beyond their borders.

Luke is the author of Sovereignty and the Responsibility to Protect: A New History (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 2014), and he has placed articles in journals including International Studies QuarterlyEuropean Journal of International RelationsEthics & International Affairs, and European Journal of International Law. He is co-editor of the quarterly journal, Global Responsibility to Protect
